Yakone gets a run in the snow this year
Despite the lack of snow, Yakone actually got to pull a real sled this year at Dinner Plain, although being on her own required a little encouragement and gentle leading, with a small help up the hills.

13th June 2005, Her first ever competition! Good Sled Dog!
We were second to Cheryl from the SHVC with her Rescue / Rehome dog "Z-Man" who ruthlessly attempted to throw our race by getting Yakone to befriend Z-Man, Yakone spent the whole race waiting for her new friend to catch up with us! (what a socialite she is!!)
A huge fun weekend was had by all despite torrential rain on the Friday Night! that threatened to dampen the proceedings for the weekend. Teams arrives from all over the East coast, with a few drivers flying in form Western Australia! (where they certainly don't get any snow!)
Due to the distinct lack of snow in Australia, in areas other than the Alpine National Park, we have learned to adapt to racing on dirt tracks, using Scooters or Rigs. Here's a few pictures of Social Sledding events with the Siberian Husky Club of Victoria, and a few other races
